SCRIBE architects was founded by Rory Lean (Director) in 2019
Rory studied architecture at the University of Nottingham and the University of East London, where under the acclaimed tutelage of the late Mark Hayduk, he was awarded a distinction for his thesis on contemporary public realms before completing his professional qualifications at the University of Westminster. Prior to founding SCRIBE Architects he worked as Project Architect for a number of award winning practices in London including Hayhurst and Co. and Haverstock where he designed and managed residential and educational projects at a multitude of scales across London and the South East.
Rory became an ARB registered architect in 2013 (Reg.081613B)

APPROACH
SCRIBE Architects is an Architectural practice which specialises in residential projects of all scales and budgets, helping clients to unlock the potential of their homes. We work closely with clients from our initial meeting through to completion and develop a collaborative design that reflects their individual needs and aspirations, as well as the unique context of the site. We strongly believe that no two buildings should be the same and that a home can become a life changing space when it responds to its particular surroundings and all the oddities and habits of the people that occupy them. Put simply - your home should have a personality, and be like no other.
Integral to this creative process is the importance that we place on material selection, views, connection to the outside environment and natural light, which are all fundamental in creating a vibrant and healthy environment to live in.
This approach is so fundamental to our work that the practice name was chosen to reflect this. To scribe is a cabinetry term whereby you mark and cut new material to perfectly fit an existing and irregular shape.
